Art Mediums I love using (and maybe you do too!) + a few artworks

Hey there!

I’m Charlotte (AKA SketchbookDraws), if you are new here… I love drawing, reading, blogging, computer programming and other things.

Ahh… the smell of grass after it rained! It makes me want to draw today. But what art medium should I use? There are so many choices… Do you have any favourite one? I do too.

Let’s go!

(this post is not sponsored)

1. Colouring Pencils

My all-time favourite! Layering every colour to create a new masterpiece is so nice. I particularly like using colouring pencils over watercolour, creating every small detail and touch of colour the drawing needs.

And you actually don’t need the most expensive set ever (my older self would never believe me, unfortunately), just some well pigmented ones that layer nicely to make your next art piece.

Here are a few drawings created with my old set of colouring pencils (Please do not steal my art, I worked very hard to make these drawings. Thank you!):

2. Watercolour

Watercolour is an amazing medium. The water-based paint allows you to create loose, abstract or realist pieces with only a paintbrush and a palette of paint.

I just love the feeling the paint gives me, the flow of the paint on the paper, the mess you can make with it, too ^-^!

3. Ink

I love this medium. I like doing the lineart directly onto the sketch using my Pentel ink brush pen. It took me a while to get used to it and, honestly, I still struggle a bit with the medium. I always was scared of the splotches and shaky hands ;).

Here are a few inked drawings:

Thank you for reading all the way to the end, and looking at my cringe old drawings! :P Do you have any favorite mediums, too? Tell us in the comments below!
